The beauty of exploring tobaccos from all over the world is that each region has a distinctive taste and style. Like coffees and wines, it tends to define the region for well-traveled smokers who switch up their favorite sticks seasonally or depending on a meal or beverage pairing. Sometimes, we can fall into the trap of only desiring a fine Nicaraguan puro, for example, or assuming that the only good cigars are the ones that derive from Cuba. If you find yourself in that mind frame, it’s time to try the La Aurora 120th Anniversario and learn more about the Dominican Republic and its deep connection with the cigar loving world. More than a century old, La Aurora has mastered plenty of different blends and styles, but its wheelhouse is right here in a Dominican puro that is mellow-medium bodied in strength. This is the perfect introductory cigar for a novice smoker that has yet to experience a stronger, fuller bodied smoke or the aficionado who doesn’t think a mellow-medium bodied smoke could possibly be this flavorful. Guillermo León, president of La Aurora, said in a press release that the cigar was “A milestone that will serve as a reference point for many years to come. Our commitment has always been with creating cigars that embody the rich, distinct flavors of the cigar world.”Featuring a Habano 92 wrapper, Olor binder from the Cibao Valley and filler tobacco that features Cibao Valley varietals including Olor and Piloto Cubano, the 120th Anniversary smoke offers flavors of pepper, wood, sweetness and spice; the perfect interplay that always keep your palate guessing and wanting to come back for more. Shop the entire La Aurora collection at JR Cigar today and take home the cigar that, according to its own president, reshaped the way the company collaborates on an important project. Chances are, this will be a humidor mainstay for years to come.
